CSIRO Termite Risk Mapping for Australia
Termite inspections are recommended annually. These inspections are recommended for the early detection of termite activity- not just in your home but also in the surrounding trees, garden beds, entertaining areas and fences.
During this inspection, our qualified technician will use equipment such as infrared camera, moisture meter and various other tools to examine your homes internal framework and surrounding gardens and structures.
Termites do not live out in the open they are subterranean, which means they live and travel underground. There are often very minimal signs that termites are invading your home and for this reason, we recommend you enlist the services of a professional.
Once our technician has completed a thorough inspection of your home you will be provided with a comprehensive report outlining the areas inspected, recommendations, activity levels and if activity found a treatment plan and proposal. We will ensure that you are able to contact the technician at all times to ensure you understand the report and are informed every step of the way.
Identification of Termites
The two types of termites outlined below are the two primarily responsible for termite damage to homes within Australia, they are the Coptotermes acinaciformis and Mastotermes darwiniensis.
Coptotermes are the number one species found in homes in Albury and surrounds, the termite workers make up the largest number within the colony and are the culprits for damaging homes.
Coptotermes build their homes out of site often completely underground or within the base of trees. Within your home, you are likely to find them anywhere moisture is retained.
It is important that if you find termites or suspect termite activity DO NOT treat them yourself or spray them with domestic chemicals. Please call us for an instant quote and consultation.
Termites will damage the infrastructure of your home if left untreated.
Our treatment plans will eradicate the nest that is currently infecting your home and protect your home from future invasion. Future protection is necessary as once one colony is eliminated it is likely that another colony will move in if not prevented.
Our treatment options differ depending on your situation, however, the initial step is always a thorough inspection of your home. Even when you know where the termite activity is located we must ensure that this is the only area of activity, we aim to identify their entry point and if possible their nest location. Termites can build subsidiary nests, which are nests away from the main colony. It is for all these factors and more than a termite inspection is the initial task in any treatment plan.
Effective Termite treatments often begin with baiting, this process is an ongoing process and our technician will keep you updated every step of the way. At PPC we pride ourselves on communication and know you will not be left wondering.
